TRIP DESCRIPTION :

Leaving Bayonne for Portugal, you'll be drawn to the country for a number of reasons. First of all, the Portuguese themselves are absolutely friendly, which makes you want to enjoy this gentle way of life in the company of others. Then there's its culture, gastronomy, fish, wine, varied landscapes, pousadas, beaches and surf.

  • On our way to Bregança via Spain, which will be our first "bivouac", we'll be just a stone's throw from the Douro valley, where port wine is grown in both red and white. A must in Portugal, as is the Alentejo, where you'll find the world's largest cork production!
  • Before heading to the Alentejo, a visit to Nazaré is a must (second and third nights in Nazaré). Going to Portugal also means taking the time to stroll around and discover one of the most beautiful surf spots in the world! Visit the lower part of Nazaré and climb to the top of the town to enjoy the view, and why not take a ride on the town's funicular railway. The chapel of san antonio with its earthenware tiles, the Nazaré town market where you can sample some local delicacies. Don't leave Nazaré without visiting the sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré.
  • Lisbon (the location of the 4th and 5th nights) seems inevitable, as if drawn by its exceptional coastal location and rolling hills. By the imposing and beautiful St. George's Castle, the old town and its pastel tones, the Tagus estuary and its azulejo museums with decorative ceramics dating back 5 centuries! So much pleasure to share!
  • And if you want to see what Cascais and Sintra, Lisbon's beautiful suburbs, look like.
  • Once we've left Lisbon, we'll head for the Alentejo to reach Faro (6th night). Faro's old town is superb, with its youthful atmosphere, warm welcome and charming restaurants! Add to this the time for a sunset stroll, and you'll have some of Portugal's most beautiful views to remember.
  • Leaving Faro means heading for Spain, some 30 km away, in the direction of Sevilla. That's our nights 7 and 8. Because Sevilla is to be savored. It's impossible not to stop here for at least 2 days, such is its beauty, atmosphere and charm. It's Andalusia, flamenco, the Alcazar palace, the bullring, the cathedral and that unique Sevillian atmosphere!
  • Night N°9 will be in Cordoba, nicknamed the beautiful Andalusian city, taking the time to understand the fascinating history of this city, strolling through the historic center, the Cordoba mezquita and much more.
  • Nights 10-11 in Granada to discover this magnificent city surrounded by snow-capped mountains. A visit to the Alhambra, an architectural gem, is a must. There's a parador inside where you can enjoy Spanish gastronomy. Shopping is also possible. Visit the cathedral and the royal chapel. In short, so many things to remember about Andalusia!
  • Departure from Granada via the Sierra Nevada and its famous Tabernas Desert, where a number of westerns have been filmed. Head for Toledo for the nights (12-13) to visit the Alcazar, St. Mary's Cathedral, the Royal Palace and the city's Jewish heritage.
  • We'll leave Toledo for Bayonne, the final stop on our journey!
